MIOX® BG – Natural iron mineral for H₂S reduction in biogas plants
MIOX® BG was specially developed for use in biogas plants and is based on finely ground iron oxide (Fe₂O₃) with a particle size of less than 25 µm. The large specific surface area of the material enables effective adsorption of hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) produced during fermentation.
Benefits at a glance:
- Efficient H₂S binding: Directly in the fermenter (in-situ) through adsorption on the surface of the iron mineral.
- Easy application: Delivered in compostable 25 kg valve bags that can be added directly into the solid feed. The bag fully decomposes during the digestion process.
- Environmentally friendly: Not classified as hazardous, natural product, no chemical additives, no REACH registration required.
- High compatibility: Does not affect the biology in the fermenter, especially no change in pH value.
- Alternative to iron chloride: No chlorine gas formation, less corrosion on plant components (concrete, metal & engine), no handling of liquid chemicals necessary, non-hazardous.
Application details:
- Individual dosage: Depends on fermenter volume and substrates.
- Experience values for various plants available
Packaging and delivery:
- Standard: 25 kg compostable paper valve sack, 1,000 kg/pallet
- Bulk: 500 kg or 1,000 kg in big bags (not compostable)
